Look at this absolute sweetness! Is he not the cutest little thing you have seen? I had so much fun with this little guy, he had the sweetest little personality. And look at all that hair? It reminded me so much of my daughters hair when she was born, it made me realize how fast she has grown up and how much I miss that newborn freshness.

I'm so glad I got to photograph the M Family while their daughters were home from college. It was cold out but they did great and we had a great time.

Photographing this family of 4 girls and watching them having fun together and laughing made me miss my 4 sisters and sister in law more than anything. It has been over 5 years now that we have been away from home and I am starting to miss it a lot. We always saw ourselves back out west by now but sometimes life doesn't happen how we think it will. We have been blessed with awesome friends that we consider family here in the South. But there really is nothing like sisters, they are the best!!!!

I have realized more and more just how small of a world we live in. As I have moved to new states I have made connections I never in a million years thought I would make. For example when I moved to Memphis I met this family at church. After several months their Mom and I realized that my grandparents and her parents were the closest of friends while she was growing up. She use to take piano from my Uncle, baby sat for my Aunt, my Mom baby sat her and they did family things together. Is that not crazy? Here we are thousands of miles from home and who would of thought you could meet someone with that close of a tie to you. She spent time telling me her memories of my grandparents, it's so fun when you live so far from family to have someone who actually knows the people you love and can talk with you about them.
I was able to photograph her children earlier this week, they were great clients. They are beautiful kids and were such good sports. Thanks so much for allowing me to capture your sweet kids and for bringing our families "back together" again!

Document Part II (Memphis, TN Photographer)

This week was parent's night at dance which means we had the chance to go in and watch B during her dance class. I knew B loved to dance but it was fun for me to see her excitement and determination as she learned new moves and danced for us. It got me thinking back on all the past sports she had tried soccer, basketball, gymnastics and cheer leading. After her first soccer game she said "Mom, why did you make me do that it was so tiring all that running." I knew after that comment that sports were out of the question for her future. As a parent you imagine your kids growing up enjoying the things you do, I was an athlete from the time I was small so of course I figured my daughter would be too. When she wanted to take dance of course I wanted her to try it out. My parents let us try everything out, dance lasted for 2 weeks (I have two left feet). So I wasn't sure how it would go but she has fallen in love. She LOVES tap dance, that is her favorite part but she also loves ballet. I am so happy she has found something she loves. It's ok that she's probably not going to love sports like I did, it's fun to watch her enjoy doing something I am horrible at. And who knows, maybe she can teach me how to dance (although I am sure I am helpless)!
Just watching her made me realize my baby has grown up, her innocence is wearing off, why does time have to fly by so fast??? I wish I could keep them small forever!!!

I have really been enjoying my break from sessions, so much I think I have been forgetting to blog! I have four more clients this year but I have had a nice two week, much needed break.
I'm currently in a workshop called "document" with the fabulous Angie Warren. You might know her from her blog Creative Mama which is another blog that I love. Although we are only halfway through the mini workshop, I have learned SO much from Angie about documenting details and creative perspective. I sometimes get so lost in the perfection of the picture that I forget that I am hired to document something. I am just in love with Angie, she has such a deep soul and the way she photographs conveys amazing stories.
I have decided I need to pull out my camera more often, not just at shoots. I need to document my kids lives and not worry so much about the lighting and shot being just perfect. So the other day I did just that, my ISO was bumped up as high as it could go, there is so much grain in these pictures it looks like an old TV set, but guess what, I don't care? When I look at these pictures I see memories that I have frozen for me, to keep forever. A blanket that he has carried around for 2 years now, those puppy dog eyes that can get away with anything, the Disney Cars that he talks about non stop. This is him, this is now, this is life.
Starting next year I will be introducing something new on my blog, a chance for me to "document" my life. Can't wait for the new blog to be revealed in the new year!

I often tell my clients I love jeans (I'm not one for dressy) I love color and layering (beanies, scarves, cardigans) but these guides will give you a visual idea of what I think would be great to wear for pictures. My sister came to visit last week with my sweet little niece. We had a ton of fun showing them around Memphis, we loved having them here. We took lots of pictures of baby Oaklynn including some studio shots in my house. She is the happiest little baby ever so it was so fun to photograph her. You can see her newborn shots that I took back in June here , she still looks the same but is chubbier and has lost some hair since those pictures.
If anyone is interested in studio style shots like these for your little ones, let me know.

I had a great time with this sweet family the other day. The boys are the same age as my little man so I am use to the terrible two's, but they weren't terrible at all. I just had a fun filled weekend with 15 other photographers at an amazing workshop with Tara Staton. It was full of so much amazing information, beautiful models, and fun new friends. I LOVE my clients, if you have ever had your pictures with me you know how quickly I make friends and how loyal I am. But what I love even more is when my good friends ask me to take their pictures!!! We met the T Family when we moved to MS and they quickly became some of our closest friends we have ever had. We hit it off so fast, not only us wives but honestly our husbands are like girls when they get together. They never stop talking in person and they can talk on the phone forever which is so not like my husband. Also my kids line up perfectly with their kids and so we consider it a match made in heaven. We went back home this past weekend so our husbands could race in their annual triathlon together (which they did awesome in) and I was super excited when they scheduled me for pictures because I love them and was totally invested in them like I am with all my clients. Aren't they just a beautiful family, they definitely have some good genes!

Guess who is getting COMPLETELY rebranded?????? I am so excited I could scream! I have been wanting to do this for a little while now and I finally decided there is no better time than now. The amazingly talented Jeanine Linder is currently working on my new logo all the way in Switzerland! And the computer savvy and uberly creative Breeze with Trust the Air Design is designing me a brand new blogsite. This is such a fun process for me, I can hardly wait for it all to be ready. Of course blog design takes time so I will have to be patient but stay tuned, I know you wont be disappointed! And because I can't leave a post with out a picture, these eyes are the reason it's so hard to get my little boy in trouble even when he's being naughty!

I must admit I was quite excited when a new client contacted me and wanted her daughters pictures and a few maternity shots taken in a cotton field. I was delighted when the Stubbs asked me to take pictures of their kids. They have the most adorable family and their kids were awesome behind the camera. Mom was able to get the baby asleep for some cute sleeping shots, which doesn't always happen at 3 months, and then later that night we took the older kids to the square for their pictures. There are so many reasons I love what I do, but editing this picture tonight I realized one more reason why I love photography so much. I am able to take this picture and edit anyway I want. Do I want something bold that stands out, or do I want something soft and more romantic. That's the beauty of being an artist, no matter what type of artist you are, you have the ability to create something your own way, depending on your mood. No one can tell you what you do is wrong or you are doing it incorrectly because you are the artist. Which edit do you prefer?

I am still working on the Wedding pictures from the Westover wedding and just came across this picture I had to post. Seriously look at them, dont they look crazy? Well I can attest they are, crazy and so much fun. We were so lucky that they let us live with them for a month when our house sold in Hattiesburg and had no where to go. 30 days with a family and you see it all the good, bad and the ugly. Well I am happy to say there was no bad or ugly but there was lots of good and LOTS of fun! This past weekend I got to go to Baton Rouge to shoot a wedding for such a cute couple. It was so beautiful and the bride and groom were so in love, we had a good time. Then we headed back to Hattiesburg for the reception. It was a busy day but despite the heat and humidity the Wedding went great. The craziest thing was as soon as they got in their car to leave the reception, it started pouring!!! The weather was definitely on their side that night.

Sweet baby Hailey definitely gave me a good challenge. She was not having her picture taken, well truly what she was not having was her Mom putting her down. She wanted to be held and anytime she was put down she wasn't a happy camper. Well luckily we were able to work with her and ended up with some great pictures. When she smiles her eyes just light up, and when she cries she is mad. We caught some real emotion here in these photographs and we were all thrilled with that!

Sweet baby Oaklynn finally decided to make an entrance to the world 4 days after her due date. We were beginning to wonder how bad she wanted to be here, especially since Whitney's labor was 22 hours! Luckily she finally decided to come out and meet all of us and we were so thrilled to meet her. She is the best baby ever and I am not just saying that. She sleeps 12 hours at night, only waking up once!!! And she never cries, she is just so dang sweet. Of course she did great for her newborn pictures, here are a few of our favorites!

One big perk to being in Arizona this summer is getting being here when my niece was born. I have missed the last 5 nieces and nephews births being out of state so I was so happy to be here when Whitney had her baby. I know I have been MIA for a while. We moved out of our house and because we sold so quick (thank goodness) we are temporarily staying with some awesome friends for a couple weeks. When you are a photographer, your kids pretty quickly get sick of a camera in their face. I practiced on them for so long that now when they see my camera they turn and run as fast as they can. So I decided to have my friend Suzanne who is a fellow photographer take some pictures of us so that maybe they would be willing participants. Lucky for me it worked but while she was changing her lens at one point, I pulled out my camera to snap some pictures and they allowed it! The sun today was just perfect, perfectly beautiful. Several times the clouds would come out and hide the sun but when the sun peeked its way back out again, it was perfect lighting. I just finished editing Kate's photos and they made me smile the whole time I was working on them. She is just a sweet girl and her smile is so beautiful. She was so much fun to work with and really made my job easy. Peyton's Mom asked to look at the proofs to pick her favorites for me to edit so as soon as I get those back I will start editing and post them on my blog!

These two have been best friends since they were little girls. For both of their Birthdays this month, Peyton's sister-in-law wanted them to have a photo session. Look how beautiful they both are at 12, only imagine what 5 years will bring!!! (These are just a few of the first ones we took, I will post more later this week).

Lucky me got to go home for the Holiday's. There is nothing like being home with those you love during my favorite season. I had so much fun with everyone, it just reminded me how much I love being in AZ. While I was there I took some pictures of Shay and Tyson. They never got professional engagement pictures taken so we decided to take some engagement type pictures. I have only edited 3 for now because next month I am taking Kylie's Phaunt U photoshop course. I have heard nothing but great things about it so I figured I would wait to edit the rest once I took the course. But for now here is a "sneak peak".

I know this is a little late but with the Holiday's I never got a chance to post my last family of the year. I took Abigail and Ana Claires pictures for their Christmas card. Ana Claire wasn't up for smiling but she looked cute no matter what.

Shelly was actually the first person we met when we moved out here. She was in the model home one day when we were purchasing our home and we met her and I remember thinking, she is really cool I am so glad she is going to be close by. Well 4 1/2 years later they are still some of our closest friends here. Unfortunately they sold their house last week but luckily they only live a few miles away now and I work with her, so we still see lots of Shelly, Gaines and Hunter! They are the cutest family and will be growing next year in May when they have their next baby, yay!!!
Hunters Mom asked if I would take their family pictures for Christmas cards. Of course I was happy to because I just love them too, Shelly is so lucky to have GREAT in-laws!!!

I had the chance to shoot these beautiful girls a couple days ago and I think I can honestly say it was my favorite session yet. Not only are they gorgeous on the outside, they are some of the most beautiful girls on the inside. I would be so proud to have Brooklyn turn out like them when she gets older. I had so much fun and they were so willing to do anything I asked of them. I couldn't decide which ones to post so please forgive me for posting so many!!!
